Belize unveils new cultural exhibits, boutique resorts, and the return of same day UK flight access at WTM London

Belize Tourism Board (BTB) has announced a wave of new developments for 2027 and beyond, featuring major cultural exhibits, boutique resort openings, and the return of the streamlined air connectivity that allows UK travellers to reach the destination in a single day.

Central to the new offerings is the 2027 launch of the Te K'ab Chaak Tomb Exhibit at the Caracol Archaeological Reserve. Following its discovery during the 2025 archaeological field season, the exhibit will display rare Early Classic artifacts and elite burial objects, offering visitors an unprecedented look into the tomb of Te K'ab Chaak, Caracol's first recorded ruler.

Belize’s hotel portfolio continues to evolve with low-impact, boutique properties rooted in local culture:

  • Duna Beach Resort (Early 2027): A small coastal escape by The Belize Collection, situated in Hopkins Village along the Caribbean coast.
  • Four Seasons Resort and Residences, Caye Chapel (2027): Off the coast of Belize in the Caribbean Sea, 16 miles from Belize City, this new resort features 104 oceanfront rooms, overwater bungalows, and a cenote-inspired spa.
  • Six Senses Belize (Mid-2028): A private island hideaway on Emerald Caye featuring overwater villas, private residences, and wellness experiences designed around the local marine environment.

Streamlined travel for UK visitors

Accessing Belize from the UK is now easier thanks to the return of Air Canada's seasonal route connecting Montréal (YUL) to Belize City (BZE) from 6th December. Operating weekly on Mondays, the service eliminates the need for an overnight connection or transit through the United States, enabling same-day arrivals into Belize from London Heathrow and regional UK gateways.

Hon. Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism, Youth, Sports and Diaspora Relations, Belize, said: “Belize is entering an exciting new chapter centred on authentic, community-led experiences and rich heritage, making 2027 an ideal time to experience a destination like no other. Highlights like the remarkable Te K'ab Chaak Tomb Exhibit opening at Caracol bring our ancient Maya history to life in a truly profound way. Upcoming boutique and luxury properties, such as Duna Beach Resort in Hopkins and Four Seasons Resort on Caye Chapel opening in 2027, to Six Senses on Emerald Caye planned for 2028, offer a range of new bases for exploration.”

“Combined with expanded flight connections via Montreal that allow UK visitors to arrive the very same day without an overnight layover, it has never been easier or more rewarding to experience Belize’s living cultures, vibrant communities, and pristine environment.”
