Bermuda builds tourism momentum with new investment, connectivity and experiences

Visitor spending and cruise arrivals rise as hotel development, expanded air and cruise services, new attractions and meetings infrastructure strengthen Bermuda’s tourism offering.

Bermuda continues to build momentum as a distinctive, high-value destination for leisure, group and business travel, supported by growing visitor spend, significant investment in the island’s hotel offering, enhanced air and cruise connectivity, and an expanding portfolio of experiences.

Looking ahead to 2027 and beyond, Bermuda is entering an exciting period of transformation, with new and refreshed accommodation, enhanced meeting and event facilities, expanded cultural offerings, new adventure experiences and a programme of milestone events. Together, these developments are creating even more reasons to discover Bermuda, while further strengthening the island’s appeal to travellers, groups and events from the UK and international market.

Positive tourism performance

Bermuda continues to see growth in visitor value, with strong performance across both air and cruise arrivals. Through June 2026, the island welcomed 97,724 air visitors and 235,179 cruise visitors, with cruise arrivals increasing by approximately 10% year on year.

Air visitor spending reached $204.6 million, an increase of approximately 8% year on year, highlighting Bermuda’s continued focus on attracting visitors who make a meaningful contribution to the island’s tourism economy. Air arrivals have also recorded modest growth, with particularly strong increases from Canada and the United Kingdom.

Hotel investment continues

Several major hotel developments and renovation projects are underway across Bermuda, further strengthening the island’s accommodation offering.

The proposed The Loren at Elbow Beach would comprise 76 guest rooms and 22 detached villas, with an anticipated opening in 2029 following extensive reconstruction.

Ariel Sands is planned as a 131-key luxury resort spanning 13.8 acres of beachfront on Bermuda’s south-eastern shore. The development is expected to feature hotel suites, condo-hotel residences and private villas, alongside restaurants, pools and wellness facilities.

The Fairmont Southampton redevelopment represents an approximately $550 million investment and is due to reopen in 2027. The revitalised resort will feature new guest rooms, meeting and ballroom spaces, refreshed dining outlets and an enhanced Beach Club. Palmetto Beach Club opened in August 2026, offering dining, pool and beach facilities.

Elsewhere, properties across the island are continuing to expand and enhance their offerings. Grotto Bay Beach Resort & Spa has added 24 rooms, with a further 24 planned, while AZURA is adding oceanfront rooms and new amenities as part of its ongoing transformation. The Reefs Resort & Club has renovated its public spaces and Solaris restaurant, with further improvements to guest rooms and meeting facilities planned. Hamilton Princess & Beach Club and Rosedon Hotel are also continuing renovation programmes.

At Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa, King’s Point provides a five-bedroom waterfront retreat set on a private 4.5-acre peninsula, combining the privacy of a standalone residence with access to resort amenities.

New experiences and cultural offerings

Bermuda’s visitor offering continues to evolve, with new dining, cultural and adventure experiences adding further depth and variety to the island’s appeal.

Mirador at Rosewood Bermuda opened in July 2026 as a waterfront bar overlooking Castle Harbour, while Drift GastroBar has recently opened in St George’s, adding to Bermuda’s evolving dining scene.

Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art is expanding with a second location at the Botanical Gardens. The new arts and design centre will feature studios, classrooms and arts technology facilities, alongside programming for artists, students and educators. The expansion is expected to significantly broaden the museum’s arts education programme.

Skydive Bermuda, the island’s first skydiving company, has completed test dives from approximately 13,000 feet. Subject to final permits and approvals, the company is targeting a 2027 launch, with Cross Island in Dockyard under consideration as its permanent drop zone.

Expanded air and cruise access

Bermuda is also expanding its air and cruise connectivity, creating new opportunities for visitors to reach the island.

Disney Cruise Line is scheduled to return in 2027, with the Disney Wish expected to operate five New York–Bermuda voyages between late September and early November. Norwegian Cruise Line is also planning to expand its Bermuda service from Philadelphia, with sailings aboard Norwegian Gem expected to begin in April 2028.

BermudAir is expanding its regional network, with twice-weekly service to Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands, as well as twice-weekly service to Grand Cayman via Turks and Caicos, expected to begin on 18 December.

Meetings and events

Bermuda offers more than 170,000 square feet of meeting and event space, supported by continued investment in its hotel and events infrastructure.

The Fairmont Southampton redevelopment will introduce upgraded meeting and ballroom facilities, while Hamilton Princess & Beach Club and The Reefs Resort & Club continue to invest in their event spaces and facilities.

The island also has a strong calendar of milestone events ahead, providing additional opportunities for group travel, incentive programmes and business events.

Supporting the travel trade

In January 2026, the Bermuda Tourism Authority launched the Travel Pro Bermuda Specialist Programme in partnership with TravPRO Mobile. The digital platform provides travel advisors with destination training, marketing resources, sales support and regular destination updates, helping advisors build their knowledge of Bermuda and its evolving visitor offering.

With continued investment in accommodation, connectivity, experiences and meetings infrastructure, Bermuda is expanding its tourism offering while building on its established appeal as a destination for leisure, group and business travel.
