Jamaica Tourist Board brings an upgraded product, resilient partnerships and a message on preparedness to WTM London

One year on from Hurricane Melissa, Jamaica is open, stronger and welcoming the UK

One year after Hurricane Melissa made landfall on 28 October 2025, Jamaica is open, welcoming visitors and back at WTM London to meet the UK partners who stood by the island. By the end of August this year Jamaica had already welcomed 2.34 million visitors with around 70% of its hotel rooms back in operation and used the past twelve months to build back better.

“Growth was interrupted. Confidence was tested. Recovery was organised. Impact was delivered,” said Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism. “The Age of Resilience will reward adaptive capacity: the ability to anticipate disruption, absorb shocks, reorganise intelligently and transform before vulnerability becomes collapse. This is the resilience Jamaica’s recovery has shown the world.”

That is the lesson Jamaica brings to London. Climate shocks and unexpected events are now a fact of life for destinations everywhere. Jamaica's swift, robust response shows why every country needs preparedness and resilience strategies built in long before a crisis hits.

The UK remains one of Jamaica's most valued markets and the Minister of Tourism and Director Donovan White are delighted to return to WTM and the UK to personally thank trade partners for their support, further engage with the UK market and ensure that visitor numbers from the UK remain on an upward growth trajectory.

“Confidence in Jamaica remains high from our trusted airline, cruise, tour operator and travel agent partners, which is a testament to the priority we place on maintaining outstanding relationships,” said Donovan White, Director of Tourism. “The UK has been with us through every chapter of this recovery. At WTM we want to thank our partners in person and show them an island that is open, energised and offering experiences you will only find in Jamaica.”

At WTM London, the Jamaica Tourist Board will meet tour operators, airlines, travel agents and media to share plans for winter 2026 / 2027 and update on product development. Visit Jamaica on stand N6-420.
