Sunlife launches Estella, a new way to experience resort living in Mauritius

The new lifestyle hospitality concept combines the privacy and flexibility of a private residence with access to two established resorts, giving guests the freedom to experience Mauritius on their own terms

Sunlife has launched Estella by Sunlife, a new lifestyle hospitality concept designed for travellers who want the space and independence of a private home, without giving up the service, facilities and experiences of a luxury resort.

The first Estella property, Estella at La Pirogue, has opened on the west coast of Mauritius, offering a collection of spacious apartments and penthouses within La Pirogue, with privileged access to selected facilities and experiences at both La Pirogue and neighbouring Sugar Beach.

The concept is built around a simple idea: there is no prescribed way to have an Estella stay. Guests can cook in their own fully equipped kitchen, enjoy a quiet day in their private residence or arrange for groceries and essentials to be waiting on arrival. Equally, they can walk next door for dinner, spend the day by the pool, book a treatment at GLOW Spa, take part in water sports, play tennis or make the most of the resorts' wider activities and experiences. In other words, Estella offers a home where guests want privacy and a resort when they want someone else to take care of the details.

The residences have been designed for living rather than simply sleeping, with separate living and sleeping spaces, fully equipped kitchens and private outdoor areas. Accommodation includes one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, as well as larger residences, making the concept particularly suited to families, couples, golfers and guests looking for longer stays or a more flexible base in Mauritius.

Technology is designed to support that flexibility. Through the dedicated Estella app, guests can arrange elements of their stay before they arrive and add them throughout their visit. This includes grocery and fridge fills, ready-to-cook dining kits, private chefs, children's essentials such as nappies and cots, spa appointments, golf tee times and housekeeping preferences.

For families and groups in particular, the format provides the space to spend time together while retaining the option of privacy. Guests can settle into their own apartment and use its kitchen and living areas, while having access to the beaches, pools, restaurants, bars, GLOW Spa, water sports, tennis and children's facilities across the two resorts.

The concept also responds to a growing appetite for stays that can adapt around the traveller rather than the other way around. Estella's residences are designed to accommodate everything from traditional family holidays to extended stays and workations, offering the space of a home alongside the experiences and infrastructure of a resort.

Estella at La Pirogue is the first property in the Estella collection, with the concept designed to evolve into further destinations. Each future property will respond to its individual setting while retaining Estella's core principles of space, privacy, flexibility and personalised hospitality.

With Estella, Sunlife is moving beyond the traditional distinction between a private holiday rental and a full-service hotel, creating a model that allows guests to decide for themselves how much of each they want.
