Francis Doku

Francis Doku is a distinguished figure in Africa’s media, marketing, tourism, and MICE sectors, with an influential career spanning over 25 years. He is the Founder and CEO of Maestro Africa Group, a pan-African firm specialising in destination marketing, luxury travel content production, business events (MICE), and strategic communications. Through this role, he continues to shape narratives around Africa’s ecosystem, connecting global audiences to the continent’s most compelling stories and premium experiences.

As a key voice in the industry, Francis serves as the Publisher and Managing Editor of Africa Meets Magazine, a leading new luxury publication dedicated to MICE, business travel, and investment events. He is also the Executive Producer and Host of Africa Rising, a multimedia platform and podcast spotlighting African destinations, luxury travel, and tourism innovation.

Widely respected for his editorial excellence and industry insight, Francis is an established columnist and contributor for leading West African and pan-African publications, including the Daily Graphic, VoyagesAfriq Magazine, and Graphic Showbiz. His writing and advocacy focus on how Africa’s creative, culture, tourism, and business event industries can fuel economic transformation, investment, and global competitiveness.

Francis frequently moderates and speaks at top-tier African tourism and business events. His recent engagements include the AfCFTA Forum on Tourism, Creative and Culture Industries 2025 (Creatives Connect Afrika) - Accra, Aviadev Africa 2025 - Zanzibar, the Africa Tourism Leadership Forum 2024 - Gaborone, and the African Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit 2022 - Swakopmund. His strong grasp of tourism economics and industry strategy makes him a valued participant in high-level conversations across the continent.

Prior to his current ventures, Francis held senior leadership positions in some of West Africa’s most prominent media organisations. Notably, as General Manager of TV3 Ghana, he led the brand’s transformation into a market leader, significantly growing its audience share through strategic content innovation. He also served as General Manager of Digital Media at Media General, where he spearheaded the company’s digital expansion , and previously held leadership roles as General Manager for Carat and Country Manager for Redsky Advertising in Ghana.

Francis holds a BSc in Administration (Banking & Finance) and an Executive MBA in Marketing from the University of Ghana Business School. His professional footprint extends across West and Central Africa, where he maintains strong networks among buyers, investors, destination marketers, and policymakers.

As Editor in Chief of Breaking Travel News, he has conducted thousands of interviews with heads of state, ministers of tourism, airline chiefs, hotel group CEOs, destination leaders, and cultural innovators shaping the future of travel worldwide.

A highly sought after moderator, keynote speaker, and panel chair, Justin is a familiar presence on the world’s leading stages, from high level government forums to luxury travel summits and investment roundtables. His work spans Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, with a particular focus on luxury, conservation led tourism, ultra luxury hospitality, branded residences, and destination storytelling rooted in culture, community, and sustainability.

From frontline interviews and closed door ministerial briefings to on site reporting and long form analysis, Justin brings a clear eyed, independent perspective informed by sustained access to decision makers and real world outcomes.
